Erik ten Hag is targeting a rival Premier League star to replace David De Gea in the Manchester United goal, Liverpool face strong new competition to sign a Tottenham star, while Sunday’s Transfer Gossip claims a top club in Spain want to appoint Thomas Tuchel.

Manchester United are ready to move for Robert Sanchez in 2023 after deciding he is the man they want to replace David De Gea.

The long-serving United No 1 will be out of contract on July 1, though United hold a one-year option on his deal. We revealed earlier this week how De Gea is hugely admired by Erik ten Hag, but that two caveats need to be in place to hand him an extension.

On a deal currently worth £350,000 a week, United will have a big decision over what to do around De Gea. In addition, there are some doubts over the abilities of De Gea to fit into the style of play the Dutchman wants to operate.

As such, it’s little wonder to see United reportedly casting their eye over some potential successors.

Both Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak and Diogo Costa of Porto are among those under consideration.

However, the Daily Mirror reports that Ten Hag is instead keen on a move for Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez.

The Seagulls stopper has emerged as one of the Premier League’s elite goalkeepers in recent seasons. And his fine form between the sticks has seen him usurp De Gea in Luis Enrique’s Spain squad.

Man Utd want Robert Sanchez

Now the same could happen at club level too.

The paper claims Ten Hag and Co are desperate to bring Sanchez to Old Trafford. They believe he has the ability and mentality needed to play in United’s goal.

And at just 24, United believe Sanchez’s best years are ahead of him and that Brighton could sell if the price is right.

Chelsea Graham Potter is also an admirer of Sanchez, having worked with him at the AMEX.

Any deal is likely to cost around £50m. Sanchez is contracted to Brighton until 2025 and has made 78 appearances for the south-coast club.

Born in Cartagena in the region of Murcia, Sanchez joined Brighton at the age of 15 and has had loan spells at Forest Green Rovers and Rochdale.

PSG are looking into a deal to sign Son Heung-min from Tottenham, according to reports.

The 30-year-old is a hugely-popular figure at Spurs, having joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Indeed, he has scored a total of 136 goals in 344 games for the club and shared the 2022 Golden Boot award with Mohamed Salah.

However, there rumours are growing that this could be the last season Son enjoys at Tottenham.

At 30, the South Korean icon is seemingly looking for one final career challenge. And he has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

However, Liverpool are also seemingly keen with Jurgen Klopp recently admitting his failure to sign Son is one of the ‘biggest regrets of his life’.

And now, according to reports in Spain, it is PSG who pushing most hard to sign Son. Indeed, the French giants see the star as a possible addition to their attack in 2023. The French giants have ongoing doubts over the future of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. And if either of them leave, then Son is the club’s No 1 pick to come in.

Son is currently suffering with a fractured cheekbone injury sustained in the Champions League clash against Marseille. He has, however, been named in his country’s squad for the World Cup finals despite a worrying prognosis.

Atletico Madrid are readying a move for Thomas Tuchel amid claims Diego Simeone could leave the Spanish giants.

The Colchoneros have been knocked out of the Champions League, finishing bottom of their group. And they currently sit fifth in LaLiga, some 13 points behind leaders Barcelona.

As such, there is a growing feeling in Spain that Simeone and Atletico are set for a parting of ways.

The popular Argentine has been in charge since 2011 and is one of the longest serving managers in European football.

And having led them to title glory in 2014 and 2021, his achievements will never be forgotten.

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel

However, should he depart, then reports in Spain claim that Tuchel is next in line. He is seen as the perfect successor to Simeone and has the same will-to-win mentality that attracts the Spanish giants.

Tuchel has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea in September. The former PSG and Borussia Dortmund coach has been linked with a number of top sides, including Liverpool.

But a move to Atletico may be on the cards if Rojiblancos decide to part ways with Simeone.
