Paper Talk: Man Utd agree terms on Kamara deal with another star to go

Boubacar Kamara in Ligue 1 action for Marseille against PSG

Manchester United have made a breakthrough and are nearing the first signing of the Ralf Rangnick era in Boubacar Kamara, Newcastle are chasing three big-name strikers, while Tuesday’s transfer gossip claims a Chelsea man is a target for Lazio.

BOUBACAR KAMARA DEAL AGREED FOR MAN UTD

Manchester United are nearing the signing of Boubacar Kamara having agreed personal terms with the Marseille midfielder.

We brought you the news on Sunday of how United were looking to secure his signing on a pre-contract agreement. That would see him move to Old Trafford as a free agent at the end of the season.

However, according to The Sun, via FourFourTwo, Ralf Rangnick wants Kamara brought in during January. They report that a fee of around £10.2m (€12m) has been struck with Marseille and that Kamara will become the first signing of the German’s reign.

The 22-year-old will likely prove a smart addition to United’s midfield. Blessed with huge energy, a good passing range and strong in the tackle, he has truly caught the eye for Marseille this season.

He is comfortable as part of a ‘double midfield pivot’ Rangnick prefers and may prove an upgrade on the ageing Nemanja Matic. Competing with Fred and Scott McTominay, Kamara will undoubtedly strengthen United’s engine room.

He is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal on a contract to summer 2025.

Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks to sign highly-rated Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara on a potential free transfer.

Kamara’s arrival though is likely to spell bad news for another man in Donny van de Beek. Signed in a £35m deal in summer 2020, the Dutchman has failed to find his feet at Old Trafford.

Not good enough to impact in their attacking midfield positions, his best hope of saving his United career was in the ‘No 6 role’.

However, as per the Daily Express, Rangnick has decided Van de Beek does not have the qualities needed. As such, they reckon he’s highly likely to head through the exit door next month, with the club open to offers.
