Manchester United are making plans to raid Tottenham for brilliant young left-back Jayden Meghoma, according to a report.

Erik ten Hag has taken over as United’s new manager and faces a tough task in revitalising the flagging giant. They finished a distant sixth last season with a number of their big-name stars vastly underperforming. As such, plans are afoot to try and bring in some fresh signings.

However, the Dutchman is finding the going tough as far as recruiting new signings are going. The Red Devils are in fact yet to make their mark on this summer’s market, although they do finally appear close to landing Frenkie de Jong.

That said, United are seemingly making inroads elsewhere. As such, they are reportedly looking to lure talented Spurs full-back Meghoma to Old Trafford.

The 15-year-old left-back is described as one of the best in his position for his age bracket throughout Europe.

Now a recruitment source at Old Trafford has informed Caught Offside that United are looking to poach him.

They claim United officials have identified the England U16s star and hope to wrap up a deal soon.

Jayden Meghoma seen as one for the future

Meghoma has shown immense promise for Spurs at youth level and his departure will be seen as a real blow.

But the appeal of a move to Manchester United clearly looks to have convinced Meghoma to move north.

Ten Hag is very much a big believer in promoting the best young talent. And the Dutch coach is said to be aware of Meghoma’s talents, having kept a close eye on his progress while in charge at Ajax.

The likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Jurrien Timber, De Jong and Donny van de Beek all became global names under Ten Hag at Ajax. The quartet are just four of the successful products to have come through their famed youth academy.

Now Ten Hag wants a similar set-up at United – and they are seemingly looking to recruit some of the game’s biggest upcoming talents to do so.

United will likely need to pay Tottenham a development fee for Meghoma as compensation for the move.

One player at the other end of the career spectrum is Cristiano Ronaldo. Now a report claims his concerns over United’s summer business has put renewed doubts over his future at Old Trafford.
