The agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has rubbished rumours about his client causing dressing room problems, amid Manchester United and Arsenal interest.
Osimhen has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers following his initial rise at Lille. In fact, he soon earned a move to Serie A and has continued his fine goalscoring form for the Azzurri.
The Nigeria international has scored 25 goals in 55 Napoli games. He has subsequently attracted interest from elsewhere, including the Premier League.
Indeed, Arsenal reportedly have him on their radar as they seek a new striker as a priority summer deal.
Man Utd could also sign a new striker under the orders of their new manager. Osimhen has three years left on his Napoli contract, but Gazzetta dello Sport reported last week that the striker caused issues in the dressing room by arriving back late from international duty.
The 23-year-old’s agent has now rejected those rumours, instead insisting that Napoli and Osimhen are a perfect fit.
“There are no problems,” Roberto Calenda told Radio Marte. “Victor has already proved his close bond with this club.
“I don’t want to waste time talking about this, the situation is ridiculous. Just move on and talk about football.
Manchester United told of £100m price tag set by Napoli for Victor Osimhen
Man United will have to pay £100m for Victor Osimhen from Napoli is they want to sign him this summer
“Osimhen is a young striker and with the right tips, his development is natural.
“Luciano Spalletti improves the players he works with. Everyone is happy about how things are going, Napoli are a precise choice for the striker’s development, as a man and as a footballer.”
Osimhen scored 10 goals in his first season at Napoli. He has added a further 15 this term and averages close to a goal every two games.
Osimhen could plug Man Utd, Arsenal gaps
Arsenal are in need of a new striker after letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave for Barcelona in January.
What’s more, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nkeitah are likely to leave as free agents at the end of the season.
United, meanwhile, made the shock decision to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer. He has had a fantastic impact in some quarters, but at 37 his time at the top level is limited.
Osimhen, though, is only 23 and has added vital experience in Ligue 1 and Serie A.
He has already proven his goalscoring touch and could well be a solid Premier League signing.
However, he will not come cheap. With his contract running out in 2025, Napoli have significant negotiating leverage.
