Vital Everton player Ten Hag rates gives final verdict on Man Utd switch; he is ‘excited’ for pre-season

Jordan Pickford of Everton

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has delivered his verdict on leaving the club amid interest from Manchester United.

The England international has played an instrumental role in keeping the Toffees in the Premier League for the past two seasons.

It’s thought that Everton will have to sell players before they can make big transfers this summer. But, Sean Dyche will be desperate to keep Pickford at Goodison Park.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Man Utd are preparing to bid for Pickford ‘imminently. Erik ten Hag is currently on the hunt for a new goalkeeper to provide competition to David de Gea and sees the England international as a good option.

Allegedly, a fee of £30m would be enough to convince Everton to sell. Although, the shot-stopper signed a new contract in February that keeps him at the club until 2027. So, Man Utd may have to bid more than that amount.

This season, Pickford made Premier League 37 appearances for Everton, keeping eight clean sheets. While this may not seem like a lot, he also made the third most saves in the entire division.

Also, as mentioned, some of his performances towards the end of the campaign almost single-handedly kept Everton out of the bottom three.

Pickford responds to Man Utd links

Despite Man Utd’s growing interest in Pickford, the goalkeeper doesn’t want to leave Everton this summer.

Indeed, his agency – CAA Stellar – has released a statement regarding the speculation surrounding his future. They confirm Pickford is happy where he is, and doesn’t want to move his young family elsewhere.

As noted by reputed Everton source El Bobblethey said: “Jordan is very happy at Everton and very settled with his young family.

“He loves the club and will remain at Everton until we are told otherwise. He is excited to get back for pre-season and help push Everton up the table.”

Now, it seems the only way Pickford will leave Everton is if the Merseyside club force him out.

As a result, Ten Hag will have to look for alternative goalkeeper options. As mentioned, he is currently on the hunt for support for David de Gea, who has had a disappointing season overall.

Dean Henderson, who was on loan at Nottingham Forest, is already on the books at Old Trafford. However, he looks set to sign for the Tricky Trees on a permanent deal.

Some of the other names on Ten Hag’s wishlist include Brentford’s David Raya (although he’s close to joining Tottenham) and Sporting Lisbon’s Diogo Costa. So, those are two names for Man Utd fans to keep an eye out for this summer.
