Fulham star Willian insists Neymar would be a major success in the Premier League as Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly battle for his signature.

The 31-year-old has been with Paris Saint-Germain since the summer of 2017. The Brazil interantional shocked the footballing world by leaving Barcelona when seemingly at the peak of his powers. The French giants paid Barca a world record €222m for the prolific marksman.

He scored 105 goals from 186 appearances in all competitions for the Catalans, in a strike partnership with Lionel Messi.

It was thought he would remain at the Nou Camp for the majority of his career. But he ditched the Spanish giants for Paris and has found the net on 118 occasions from 173 outings.

The South American is closing in on a fifth French top-flight title since arriving in the capital.

He has also secured three Coupe de France titles but has yet to lift the Champions League at Parc des Princes.

Neymar is under contract at PSG until the summer of 2025. He has been out of action since February after undergoing ankle surgery.

And the rumour mill has begun to turn about his future with the Parisians.

Chelsea have been linked but it is Manchester United who seem to be mentioned most in connection with the superstar.

Whether he joins ether of the Premier League duo only time will tell. But Willian is convinced he would be able to cope with the unique demands of English football.

“Neymar, with the quality he has, performs anywhere,” he told beIN Sports. “Wherever he goes in the world, with his quality and talent, he can easily perform.”

Neymar qualities a bonus for any side

Manchester United have enjoyed a decent season and will play in the Champions League next term.

They have already secured the EFL Cup and could make it a double with victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

But Erik ten Hag knows he needs to add quality to his squad if he is to bridge the sizeable gap to City.

Neymar would provide that quality but the Dutch tactician has been warned about the consequences of signing the Brazilian.

Former Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor feels he could bring a problem similar to Cristiano Ronaldo’s second stint at the club.

There is also the fact he is on astronomical wages in Paris. However, Willian does not see either issue as much of a problem and believes Neymar would be a huge addition to English football.

“It would be really cool to see him play in the Premier League,” he added. “He has a place in any team in the world thanks to his qualities.

“You only need to know if he wants to go to [Manchester United].”

It remains to be seen if the man with 77 Brazil goals does end up at the Theatre of Dreams. Reports earlier this week suggested talks were at an ‘advanced stage’.

There has also been talk that the Red Devils might be looking for a loan deal to bring the ex-Santos man to Manchester.
