Withering assessment of Rangnick management made as Man Utd stars accuse each other of one thing

A damning report has poured scorn on the man-management of Ralf Rangnick and claimed the Man Utd squad have started pointing the finger at each other.

A season that promised much has once again fallen flat at Old Trafford. The triple arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane was expected to put Manchester United on par with Liverpool and Man City.

However, only Ronaldo of that trio has lived up to expectation and United’s squad as a collective have underperformed.

The end result is another trophy-less season and all the signs point towards missing out on Champions League qualification too.

Ralf Rangnick was drafted in mid-season with the aim of putting United’s ship back on course. However, the German’s reign has been plagued by a drop in player effort and persistent rumblings and leaks emerging from within the dressing room.

Rangnick recently confirmed he’ll take the Austria job while remaining at Man Utd in a consultancy role. The German will have a say on the club’s direction and recruitment over the next two years while Erik ten Hag takes the managerial reins.

However, a damning report from the Athletic has now shed light on the misery that has been United’s season.

Rangnick comes under fire

Firstly, it’s claimed Rangnick’s man-management has not been up to scratch. The manager has been vocal in calling for mass change at the club when interviewed in public.

However, behind the scenes the report claims Rangnick has a tendency to ‘go quiet’ when things get tough.

Furthermore, it’s claimed he barely made an effort to pick up his dejected players after their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

That loss all but ended their hopes of finishing inside the top four and Rangnick ‘said little’ to pick his wounded stars up.

The accusations continue to flow in the article, though this time regarding the players themselves.

It’s noted the players have begun to accuse each other of not trying hard enough in training.

United’s stars have drawn frequent criticism for a perceived lack of effort on the pitch all season. However, it now appears the players haven’t been giving their all behind the scenes either.
