World Cup star hints at Prem switch with Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal ready for free-agent summer scrap

Adrien Rabiot Kylian Mbappe France 2022 TEAMtalk1

Adrien Rabiot has reiterated his love for the Premier League with links to many English clubs remaining as his Juventus contract runs down.

The 27-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer. The Red Devils agreed a £15m fee which could have risen to £20m for the France international. However, it was claimed that his astronomical wage demands scuppered any chance of a switch to the Theatre of Dreams.

But far from wallow in self pity, the former Paris Saint-German schemer has played some of his best football during the first part of the current campaign.

And, now with the France World Cup squad in Qatar, he revealed his mindset after the United setback.

“In the end, once it was clear I would not go to United, I focused straight back on Juventus to give everything I had,” he told ESPN.

“I didn’t want people to doubt my commitment or to think that because I could have left for United, I would not care anymore.

“I am out of contract in June, and I don’t want people to think that I am not committed or invested at Juve this season.”

Rabiot scored Les Bleus first goal as they beat Australia 4-1 in their opening World Cup encounter.

And he has been superb for the Old Lady, starting in the 11 Serie A games in which he has been available to play.

Although not a prolific goal scorer, the man with 30 France caps has found the net on three occasions. He has also scored twice in the Champions League and seems right back to his best.

Premier League a draw for Rabiot

Born in the Paris suburb of Saint-Maurice, Rabiot enjoyed a nomadic existence during his youth-team years.

He spent time with Creteil, Alfortville, Manchester City, Pau, Pole Espoirs and PSG before signing professional terms at Parc des Princes.

But, of all his experiences as a youngster, it appears as though his time in Manchester remained in his memory.

And, set to fall out of contract in Turin next summer, the talented star seems drawn to English football.

“I feel attracted by the football, by the Premier League itself and its super competitive nature,” he added. “I loved my time there, even if I was young. And I liked the culture and the life; my family liked it too.

“I am not indifferent to playing in England, but there will be many options to consider.”

Decisions to be made early next year

Rabiot will be a free agent at the end of 2022-2023. Should he not extend his stay with Juve, then it will be open season for his signature.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United go back in for their former target, with no transfer fee to be paid.

The Gunners, Blues and Reds have all been mentioned in connection with Rabiot. Liverpool were tipped to use Kostas Tsimikas as a makeweight in any deal for the Frenchman.

However, one journalist recently put that rumour to bed.  And it seems as though Rabiot will attempt to sort out his future after the Qatar showpiece.

“I have not spoken with Juve about the future. For example as our start to the season was tough,” he continued.

“Plus the World Cup was coming and I wanted to focus on it. After the World Cup, I will start thinking about my future more.”

He will be able to talk to foreign clubs and pen a pre-contract deal from January 1 onwards.
