Manager ‘discards’ Man Utd job offer with next destination already in mind

Zinedine Zidane Antonio Conte

A top managerial target for Man Utd has reportedly ‘discarded’ their job offer as he looks to take his services elsewhere.

Current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under increasing pressure due to the club’s poor performances. They were beaten 4-2 by Leicester City on October 16 and only managed to overcome Atalanta in the Champions League thanks to a late Cristiano Ronaldo winner.

Tensions reached boiling point in Sunday’s 5-0 thrashing by rivals Liverpool. Man Utd were awful all over the pitch and simply could not contain Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Despite being at home, the Red Devils went behind within five minutes. Mistake after mistake saw them trail 4-0 by the interval.

Solskjaer brought on French superstar Paul Pogba at half-time in a bid to get a few goals back. But he was partly at fault as a fifth goal went in. The central midfielder was then sent off for a two-footed challenge on Naby Keita.

It’s no surprise that Monday’s gossip columns were dominated by rumours surrounding Solskjaer’s future. It’s thought that he could be sacked before their clash against Spurs at the weekend.

Antonio Conte is one man being linked with the job. He has experience in the Premier League, having taken Chelsea to the title in 2016/17.

Antonio Conte 'very interested' in the Manchester United job

Antonio Conte is reportedly 'very interested' in the Manchester United job should it become available, with more news on Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard.

Another target is former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. However, it seems the Ballon d’Or winner has ruled himself out.

Goal, citing reports in the Spanish press, claim that Zidane has ‘discarded’ Man Utd’s job offer. He is busy ‘recharging’ after a successful spell with Los Blancos.

The 49-year-old will return to management in the next few years, just not with Man Utd. It’s claimed that he wants to become the boss of either Paris Saint-Germain or the French national team next.

The news will come as a major blow to United. Conte could now become the frontrunner to replace Solskjaer in the near future.

Man Utd star makes major change in exit hunt

Meanwhile, United outcast Donny van de Beek has made a big change as he looks to leave Manchester in January.

The Dutchman has never really been given the chance to impress Solskjaer on a weekly basis. He has featured for just six minutes in the Premier League this term.

Everton are hoping to take him on loan during the winter window. With that in mind, van de Beek has parted with agent Guido Albers, as per Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

His new representative is Ali Dursun of HCM Sports Management. He also works with Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, who played alongside van de Beek at Ajax.

Dursun is tasked with securing the 24-year-old a temporary switch in January. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reckons there is a ‘big chance’ that such a transfer could go through.
