New Maccabi Tel Aviv boss Robbie Keane is looking to Britain to bolster his ranks with raids on both Middlesbrough and Hearts in the works, TEAMtalk understands.

The legedary Ireland striker was appointed as boss of Maccabi back in June, signing a two-year deal in what is his first senior managerial role. The 43-year-old former Tottenham and Liverpool striker took up the role after the culimination of his short-term role on the coaching staff at Leeds under Sam Allardyce.

And as Keane looks to make his mark in the Israeli capital, we understand one name high on his list is Hearts’ prolific striker Lawrence Shankland. The Scotland international has been linked with a move to the Championship with the likes of Middlesbrough, Leeds and Stoke.

However, Keane is understood to be considering 27-year-old Shankland as someone who can make a big impact in Israel.

TEAMtalk also understands that Middlesbrough’s Paddy McNair is another Keane would like to make a move for.

The Northern Ireland international, a popular figure at Boro since his summer 2018 move from Sunderland, has a year left on his current deal at The Riverside.

The 28-year-old was also recently linked with Italian side Como 1907.
