Newcastle could fulfil Bundesliga star’s Premier League dreams by triggering over £30million clause

Newcastle United could fulfil the dreams of RB Leipzig star Amadou Haidara, should they continue their interest and trigger his release clause.

Haidara has been of interest to Premier League sides for a while. The Leipzig midfielder was a target of both Newcastle and Manchester United in January.

He entertained those links, stating the Premier League was “interesting”. Despite that, he stayed put at Leipzig, and has continued to impress.

Haidara has played 20 games out of a possible 30 in the Bundesliga so far this season. He has missed periods through injury, as well as the African Cup of Nations.

Still, he has contributed to four league goals, and Leipzig are currently third in the league.

Bild states that Haidara ‘looks to England’ amid interest. They also state that he has ‘dreams’ of moving to England, and those could be fulfilled.

The midfielder has a release clause of more than €37million (£30million) which is active from the summer. As such, it could be much easier for a deal to be done then.

What’s more, Newcastle are likely in a good position to offer a fee in that region.

Of course, their takeover last year means they have newfound wealth, and they will reportedly allow Allan Saint-Maximin to leave to maximise spending money for the summer.

As such, Newcastle could be the club to make Haidara’s ‘dream’ of playing in the Premier League come true.

Haidara to Newcastle remains to be seen

While Haidara was a big target for Newcastle in January, there has been nothing to suggest they have retained their interest recently.

Indeed, the report merely states that he is interested in the Premier League due to his comments at that time.

What’s more, the Magpies’ owners apparently do not want to spend massive sums of money this summer, despite the warchest available to them, hence the reported sale of Saint-Maximin.

Haidara’s fairytale move to the Premier League could be to Newcastle. However, it could just as easily be elsewhere, and where he does end up remains to be seen.
