Newcastle attacker’s exit path ‘decided’ with move to be finalised within 24 hours

Newcastle United have reportedly decided where they will be sending one of their attackers in the January transfer window, with a move now imminent.

Eddie Howe can currently call upon Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson or Chris Wood to lead the line for his Newcastle side. In addition, they have the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron on the wings.

The club also recently brought in Garang Kuol from Australian side, Central Coast Mariners. He can play out wide or more centrally.

At 18 years of age, Kuol is one for the future. Hence, Newcastle have been deliberating what to do with the Australia international. For Howe, the plan was always to send him out on loan.

Now, according to Daily Mail reporter Craig Hope, it has been “decided” what will be happening specifically with Kuol.

Hope has tweeted that Newcastle will be sending the attacker on loan to Hearts in the Scottish Premiership for the remainder of the season.

A separate report from Edinburgh News has relayed that the move could be finalised within 24 hours, when Kuol will arrive in Scotland and complete the paperwork for his next move.

There was rival interest from Reading and other clubs in England, but Newcastle clearly think Hearts will be the best club to develop Kuol over the next half a season.

Kuol, who arrived at Newcastle with six goals from 18 Central Coast Mariners appearances to his name, is yet to make his debut for the Magpies.

The hope will be that six months on loan in Scotland can equip him well to make an impact when the time does come for him to make his Newcastle bow.

By joining Hearts, Kuol will be able to link up with fellow Australia internationals, Nathaniel Atkinson, Cammy Devlin and Kye Rowles.

The Edinburgh News‘ report claims their presence at the club was a factor in Kuol being happy with Tynecastle Park being his next destination.

Hearts are currently third in the Scottish Premiership table, the same place Newcastle are in the Premier League.

Loan spell could help Garang Kuol

Newcastle will have to be patient with Kuol while he develops. But as a fully fledged Australia international already, who went to the World Cup, he has amassed some useful experiences.

Over the coming years, he could grow into someone worthy of competing for a place in their attack.

For now, though, it seems sensible to lend him elsewhere so he can adapt to British football. And the fact he will find some familiar faces where he ends up might help his adjustment.

Newcastle have plenty of momentum in their own season, so don’t necessarily need Kuol immediately.

That said, he is someone they have identified as a talent worth investing in. Therefore, they will keep a keen eye on his progress up in Edinburgh.

Beyond this summer, Kuol could become an exciting prospect for Howe to work with.
