Newcastle ready to test the waters with under-the-odds offer for Man Utd ace Dean Henderson

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer Manchester United £15million for the services of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The Magpies have been heavily linked with a move for Henderson of late. There have been reports of either a loan or a permanent move to Newcastle.

There has also been reported interest in Henderson from other sides. Fulham and Bournemouth – both newly-promoted Premier League sides – have been linked with the goalkeeper.

Henderson has shown his talent in the top flight before. The Englishman kept 13 clean sheets in 36 Premier League games during his loan spell at Sheffield United in the 2019/20 season.

Last season, he made 13 appearances for Manchester United in the league. However, this term he only made three appearances, none of which came in the Premier League.

As such, a move away could be ideal for Henderson. He would surely be afforded an opportunity at consistent playing time at any of the interested clubs.

Furthermore, it appears Newcastle are ready to take the plunge for him. The Northern Echo reports that the Magpies are readying an offer for the United ace.

While previous reports have stated Henderson could cost as much as £30million, the Echo states Eddie Howe’s side will offer £15million.

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is reportedly closing in on a move to Newcastle.

The Magpies are apparently confident that they will be able to seal the deal for the goalkeeper.

Newcastle keepers Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman will both reportedly be allowed to leave, too.

Should Newcastle manage to land Henderson, it would be a good deal for both him and the club. With the report stating Newcastle will let two goalkeepers leave, he would be adding to their depth.

What’s more, he would no doubt be ready to fight for a place in the starting lineup after sitting on the bench at United.

At 25 years of age, Henderson will still have a long career ahead of him. He has shown his quality in the Premier League before, and he should be able to do the same at Newcastle.

Should he break into the starting XI, he could be the Magpies’ no.1 for years, as they look to climb the table and return to being one of the Premier League’s elite.

Whether or not the £15million they will reportedly offer is enough remains to be seen, though. However, Man Utd would be getting a decent fee for a player who has hardly played over the last season.
