Newcastle United learn what they must do to secure signing of Leeds ace Jack Harrison

Jack Harrison, Leeds United, January 2022

Leeds United have placed a £35million price tag on winger Jack Harrison, according to reports, following approaches by Newcastle United.

Harrison has shown his quality since making the step up to the Premier League with Leeds. Indeed, the winger contributed to 16 league goals in the 2020/21 season, as Leeds finished ninth.

Last season, he scored eight goals, and provided one assist. Indeed, he was Leeds‘ second-highest goalscorer, behind Raphinha, who has since departed.

Harrison has gotten off to a flier at the start of the current campaign. The 25-year-old has scored once and has three assists in the first three games of the season.

Given his good form of late, he has become the subject of interest from Newcastle.

The Magpies have had two bids for Harrison knocked back, the second reportedly in excess of £20million. Leeds clearly do not want to see their star depart, but may be willing to let him go for the right price.

Indeed, Football Insider reports that the Whites have placed a value of £35million on him.

A sum in that region should allow them to recruit a decent replacement.

It is unclear at this point whether Newcastle will make another approach for the Leeds star.

Indeed, the valuation is quite a jump from the last offer the Magpies had rejected. However, they are clearly keen on snaring the star, so may well cough up the required sum.

Jack Harrison to Newcastle an interesting move

A move to Newcastle seems an interesting one for Harrison. He has clearly performed well for Leeds of late, and seems deserving of a move on current form.

What’s more, Newcastle will likely become a solid top-half side in the coming years. That project is likely one that a lot of players want to be a part of.

However, Leeds are in a very good position following the start of the season. The Whites currently sit third in the Premier League, after winning two of their first three games.

They may not be able to continue that form all season, but Harrison might want to see how far he can go with the side who gave him his chance in the Premier League.
