Newcastle United unfazed by transfer target’s hefty wage demands

Aaron Ramsey Everton target

Newcastle United are reportedly not scared of the hefty wage that will surely be demanded by Juventus star Aaron Ramsey, should they make a move for him in the transfer window.

Ramsey is on the long list of players that have been linked with Newcastle since their lucrative takeover led by the Saudi Public Investment Fund. They are one of a number of clubs looking to bring the Welshman back to the Premier League, along with Everton and West Ham.

The midfielder has missed a period of the season due to injuries, and has struggled for game-time when fit. As such, he has only been on the field for 114 minutes in the current campaign.

Ramsey’s struggle for minutes in Turin has led to speculation about him moving on.

Juventus would surely be happy to offload his £400,000 per-week contract, due to his role in the squad at present.

A move back to the Premier League, where Ramsey spent a successful period of his career makes sense. He won five trophies in England, including the FA Cup on three occasions.

As such, it would seem a good move for him to return to a league he had such success in. Newcastle are reportedly interested in the 30-year-old, per TuttoSport (via The Mirror).

That report states Newcastle would not be scared to foot the bill of his hefty contract, given their healthy financial situation.

Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are all reportedly chasing Aaron Ramsey, with more news on Dejan Kusulevski and Matthijs de Ligt.

Ramsey is apparently keen on a move away from Juventus. The transfer fee itself would be insignificant, given the Welshman’s contract expires in summer 2023.

His wage may be deemed a stumbling block for other clubs, but clearly not for Newcastle. As such, it seems like the move may well materialise.

Newcastle planning Prem swoop

The Magpies have been linked with Manchester United star Jesse Lingard for some time. They are now apparently lining up a bid in hopes of landing the midfielder.

The 28-year-old is on the radar of a number of Premier League sides, including West Ham and Everton.

Newcastle hope they can beat them to the post, by offering the star an attractive wage.

That wage offer is reportedly north of the £100,000 per week he currently earns at United.
