Newcastle tipped to ‘go big’ in bold winger move to beat Arsenal, Liverpool, as scouts give thrilling verdict

Mykhaylo Mudryk, September 2022

Newcastle could make a bold January attempt to sign Liverpool and Arsenal-linked winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, according to a report.

The Ukraine international has become one of the most-watched talents across Europe following his recent rise. Rising through the Shakhtar Donetsk academy, he made his breakthrough last season.

But, after six Champions League outings last term without a goal, Mudryk has scored two in two this time around.

He is also looking to beat last campaign’s tallies of seven league goals and two assists. Over the summer, Mudryk’s rise attracted serious Premier League interest.

Indeed, Arsenal and Everton were keen, before Brentford made a £25million deadline-day bid for him.

According to The i, though, Newcastle have become the latest English side to keenly monitor Mudryk.

The newspaper claims that the Magpies, Everton and Brentford have a ‘slim’ chance of signing the 21-year-old. Mudryk has got a taste for Champions League football, with Arsenal and Liverpool therefore potentially better fits.

The report consequently adds that Newcastle could ‘go big’ with a bid for Mudryk, who Donetsk value at just under £50million.

Mudryk backed for big things

The claims that many scouts across Europe believe Mudryk will soon become a ‘household name’ across the continent.

And a recruitment source said: “It’s an absolute certainty that he will be playing in the Premier League in the next 12 months.”

Another source said of the Ukrainian: “He is tailor-made for English football and every club knows it. He ticks every box technically and his age and relative inexperience mean he’s only going to get better.

“He’s a long way off being the finished article but he’s got all the attributes. He’s undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects in European football right now.”

Mudryk announced himself once again in this season’s Champions League with a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig.

After that, his goal against Celtic in Group F helped Donetsk secure a draw to keep their European campaign on track.

Up next for Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League is a test against holders Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Winger could suit Premier League

Mudryk has admitted that the Premier League could well be the perfect next step for him in his career.

In a confident statement, the attacker claimed that he feels he has only reached “20 per cent” of his potential.

Mudryk clearly feels he has a lot of improving to do and that he can reach a much higher level, following his recent rise.

And there is no doubt that he would be an exciting proposition for the Premier League.

It just remains to be seen which club wins the race for him.

Should Arsenal continue their fine start to the season, they will be confident of securing Champions League qualification and convincing Mudryk to move to the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool could well be in the race, although they have just signed Darwin Nunez and have Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz approaching their primes.

As for Newcastle, they would be making another statement by following up a club-record deal for Alexander Isak with a bid of close to £50million for Mudryk.

Reports have not linked Brentford with a bid of more than £25million and it remains unclear how much Everton are willing to pay for the Ukraine star.
