Newcastle ‘prepare offer’ for Bundesliga star chased by Arsenal; €40m price tag ‘shouldn’t be a problem’

Newcastle United are reportedly ‘preparing an offer’ for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jesper Lindstrom, who is a target for Arsenal.

Eddie Howe is keen to add more quality to his squad ahead of next season and looks set to bring in several exciting additions.

Now, Newcastle are ready to make a move for Lindstrom. He was on top form for Frankfurt last season, too.

Indeed, in 38 appearances across all competitions, he scored nine goals and made seven assists. A versatile player, the 23-year-old can play as an attacking midfielder or a winger on either flank.

As mentioned, his performances have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. For example, Arsenal and Liverpool have both opened discussions with Frankfurt over signing Lindstrom in the past.

Also, Tottenham hold an interest in the Denmark international. Therefore, it seems likely that he will be heading to the Premier League this summer.

So, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can beat the competition to Lindstrom. If they do, he could potentially play a big role for them next season.

Newcastle ‘prepare offer’ for Lindstrom

According to German outlet BildNewcastle have shown a ‘concrete interest’ in signing Lindstrom. They are also joined in the race by AC Milan.

The report notes that ‘it can be assumed’ that both clubs are ‘preparing an offer’ for the Dane.

RB Leipzig have previously seen an offer of €25m (approx. £21.5m) rejected for Lindstrom. Therefore, Newcastle will have to bid more than that to get a deal done.

Indeed, the attacker is under contract at Frankfurt until 2026, so they are under no immediate pressure to sell him.

As a result, the Magpies may have to offer a fee in the region of €40m (£34.4m) to win the race for his signature. Bild claim that this ‘shouldn’t be a problem.’

Lindstrom has previously admitted that he wants to play in the Champions League. So, personal terms shouldn’t be an issue for Newcastle.

He said: “I want to play where it’s fun and I think it’s fun to play in the Champions League and the big tournaments.”

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle make an opening bid for Lindstrom over the next couple of weeks. But, they will have to move quickly because as mentioned, there is a lot of interest in him at the moment.
