Newcastle facing triple challenge despite showing willingness to complete Isco transfer

Eden Hazard, Isco, Real Madrid, March 2022.

Newcastle United are reportedly showing a willingness to sign Spain playmaker Isco on a free transfer this summer.

The attacking midfielder left LaLiga giants Real Madrid when his contract with them expired on June 30. However, he’s yet to find a new club, with his agent Jorgen Mendes on the hunt for a new destination for his client.

Spanish outlet AS claims that the 30-year-old has suitors across Europe, which includes Newcastle, Galatasaray and Roma.

Jose Mourinho’s side are said to have offered Isco a two-year deal worth £3.4million per season, along with a signing-on bonus.

But the reports states that the Magpies are ‘willing to put even more money on the table’. However, they are yet to make a firm proposal after hearing that Isco is not keen on a move.

AS adds that the attacker could even remain in Spain, unless another European side offers him Champions League football.

Real Betis and Sevilla have emerged as two possibilities for Isco in his homeland.

Isco wages an issue for Sevilla

Sevilla chief Julen Lopetegui is keen to get the player on board, but the his salary is a problem.

Isco is, however, willing to take a pay cut – but it still means Sevilla adjusting their finances to sign him.

But if the Spanish duo fail to strike a deal then there is outside hope that Newcastle may come back into the mix.

Toon boss Eddie Howe has already had a fairly quiet summer so far. Newcastle have landed Nick Pope, Matt Targett and Sven Botman, although more additions are expected to follow.

One player who will not be arriving, however, is Leeds United winger Jack Harrison.

Rumours are flying around of a potential £20m bid for the wide man, but that has been laughed off.
