Chelsea star Eden Hazard was offered to Real Madrid before the Champions League final, according to reports.
Marca claims that Hazard’s father Thierry contacted Real before the end of the season to present the winger’s services to the club. Thierry Hazard reportedly told the Spanish club that the 27-year-old forward was stalling contract talks with Chelsea as he is considering a change of scenery.
Hazard has long been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, with Chelsea unable to offer him Champions League football next season. Reports indicated that Hazard is waiting to see Chelsea’s activity in the transfer market before making a decision on his future, as he is desperate to challenge for the Premier League trophy next season.
Real Madrid could lure him away though, with the prospect of playing on Europe’s biggest stage a key factor.
Chelsea are desperate to extend his current deal, which expires in 2020, and are willing to offer him £340,000-per-week.
While on duty for Belgium at the World Cup, Hazard hinted at his interest in playing for Real, saying: “Real Madrid can interest me, everyone knows it.
“But if tomorrow this club does not want me, we will not talk about it anymore.
“If they want to buy me, they know what to do.”
