Chelsea’s £40million midfield flop keen to re-join Milan

Chelsea midfield outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko is reportedly keen on a move to Milan, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season.

The Frenchman made 31 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri last season and a permanent move looked likely before a falling out with then manager Gennaro Gattuso.

His hopes of a return to Milan improved with the sacking of Gattuso, but his replacement Marco Giampaolo is thought to prefer technicians like Ismael Bennacer and Lucas Biglia to occupy the central midfield roles.

A move to Monaco looks as though it is back on the table, despite Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia previously suggesting they were not a big enough club to showcase Bakayoko’s talents to potential permanent future buyers.

Milan are not ruling out a late return for Bakayoko, if Monaco instead move for their midfielder Franck Kessie.

Bakayako faces sitting on the bench or playing in the reserves at Chelsea if he is not able to force through a move, as he is clearly not a part of Frank Lampard’s plans.
