£20m striker to stay at Everton despite interest from boyhood club

Turkey international Cenk Tosun looks set to stay and fight for his place at Everton despite interest from the Bundesliga.

The striker was reportedly weighing up a move back to Eintracht Frankfurt despite initially saying that he would remain at Everton.

Eintracht Frankfurt narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season and are said to be in the market for a new striker after selling Luka Jovic to Real Madrid for a substantial €60m fee.

But Tosun told Turkish-Football that the Bundesliga side have not made an official offer and he remains happy on Merseyside, where he is settled with his family.

He has scored eight Premier League goals for the Toffees after joining the club for £20million in the January 2018 transfer window as they attempted to salvage their season with Sam Allardyce in charge.

The arrival of Moise Kean this summer has meant that Tosun has fallen further down the centre-forward pecking order.

But after holding talks with manager Marco Silva, Tosun believes he will get his chance this season.

His chance may come sooner than many expected this season with Everton scoring just once in their opening three Premier League games.

Everton face Lincoln City in the League Cup on Wednesday before hosting Wolves at Goodison Park in the Premier League this weekend.
