£50m cited as Man Utd hunt for Sancho alternative could involve Liverpool

Man Utd have been cited a fee of £50m if they seek to sign a Jadon Sancho alternative who Gary Neville was ‘so impressed by’.

The Red Devils‘ quest to sign 20-year-old superstar Sancho appears to have been derailed.

Borussia Dortmund’s technical director dropped the bombshell, with Man Utd pinpointing who is responsible for the breakdown in negotiations.

With the move looking increasingly difficult to pull off, speculation regarding who could be targetted instead has begun to swirl.

A Barcelona forward was the latest to be named, but according to Sky Sports’ transfer guru Kaveh Solhekol, Utd could look closer to home.

He cites previous comments from Utd legend Neville who expressed his admiration for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.

Sarr enjoyed a superb campaign for The Hornets despite their eventual relegation. His breakthrough moment came via a brace in their 3-0 victory over Liverpool that ended the Reds’ hopes of invincibility.

Liverpool have been perennially linked with the Senegalese star in recent months, but funding at Anfield this summer appears to be restricted.

Solkehol believes Sarr would be available for £50m, and reiterated Neville’s demand for Man Utd to act.

“Gary Neville was so impressed by Ismaila Sarr that he said if United don’t get a deal done for Sancho, they should seriously look at Sarr,” said Solhekol.

“I think it would take a bid of around £50m to Watford to sell.

“There are reports in France that Crystal Palace want to sign him.

“He’s a player that Liverpool and Wolves have looked at but he’s on a long-term contract and Watford, having paid £35m for him, won’t sell on the cheap.”

Man Utd target offered to Arsenal?

Arsenal could sign a Bundesliga winger previously linked with Man Utd in a swap deal that would see them offload Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.

Lacazette‘s future at the Emirates Stadium has come into question recently. With Arsenal preparing a big new contract for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, they may not be able to guarantee regular first team football to the Frenchman.

And, with young strikers Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah also showing promise this season, reports have suggested the Gunners could cash in on Lacazette.
