Napoli enforcer and two defenders on £120m Man Utd wish list

Manchester United are reportedly ready to spend £70million on Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Southampton right-back Cedric Soares this summer.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for at least one new central midfielder with Michael Carrick retiring and Marouane Fellaini set to run down his Old Trafford contract.

The Manchester Evening News reported that Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred was top of Mourinho’s wanted list earlier this week, but now the Mirror report that Man City target Jorginho is the man Mourinho is prepared to spend £50million on.

The report suggests United are prepared to go head-to-head with City for the signing of the Napoli enforcer, whom Pep Guardiola claimed was “marvellous” against City in the Champions League at The Etihad in March.

ESPN claimed Guardiola has also put the 26-year-old deep-lying midfielder at the top of his wanted list and after talks the Mirror now claim United are ready to hijack the move by making an approach of their own for Jorginho.

Mourinho is also on the hunt for a new right-back with Antonio Valencia, 32, closing in on the end of his time at United. The same report claims Southampton defender Soares has been identified as a summer target.

The 26-year-old has had an impressive season at right-back for the struggling Saints and Mourinho will pay £20million for the German-born Portugal international.

Meanwhile, Mourinho will also hope to persuade Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon to snub Tottenham and sign for United.

The England Under-21 left back may well decide to leave Fulham this summer and The Times suggest Mourinho will make a move for the 17-year-old, who can play in midfielder and as a winger.
