£60m midfielder stuns Tottenham with huge contract snub

Christian Eriksen has stunned Tottenham by refusing to accept their offer of a new contract despite a lack of interest from other clubs, according to reports.

Eriksen is in the final year of his contract at Spurs and he has informed the club that he is looking for a new challenge

At the start of the summer, Daniel Levy was said to be looking for £130million to sell Eriksen to a domestic rival, but the Tottenham chairman is also reluctant to allow the 27-year-old to leave the club for nothing next year.

There have been lots of rumours that Real Madrid could make a bid for Eriksen and the Daily Star claims a £60million offer could be coming Tottenham’s way before the Spanish deadline on September 2.

However, the Daily Mirror says that Eriksen’s ‘dream summer move looks to be falling apart’ and that Spurs have offered the Dane a new deal to remain worth in ‘excess of £200,000 a week’.

Eriksen, though, has ‘baffled’ Tottenham by choosing to snub any negotiations over a new contract ‘because he has decided he wants to test himself at one of the continent’s giants’.

It’s not as if there is a queue of clubs waiting to sweep Eriksen off his feet. Indeed, Spurs have received no official offers for the 27-year-old.
