£60million star discusses failed summer switch to Man Utd

Leicester defender Harry Maguire insists that he respects the club’s decision to block a summer switch to Manchester United.

United had two bids rejected for the England central defender, with the second offer understood to be around £60million.

Maguire admits that he expected media speculation following his performances at the World Cup in Russia but says it was easy to block out, allowing him to fully focus on his football.

The 25-year-old: “I want to be on the pitch, whether it is for someone else or for Leicester.

“There was always going to be interest over the summer after the team doing so well in Russia but the owners reiterated I was not for sale and I respected their decision.
