McGinn has missed the last two matches with a hamstring strain but the Northern Ireland international trained on Monday and could return.

However, defender Clark Robertson (thigh), skipper Russell Anderson and midfielder Ryan Jack (both knee) all remain sidelined.

St Mirren left-back Jeroen Tesselaar is a doubt for the Pittodrie clash after going off against Celtic at the weekend with a tight hamstring.

Ellis Plummer, Adam Drury, Gary Teale and Isaac Osbourne all missed the 2-1 defeat by the champions through injury and are hoping to return but striker Steven Thompson (groin) remains a long-term absentee.

Zander Diamond is doubtful.

The Dons defender came off during the 2-0 defeat by St Johnstone with a hip injury and is struggling.

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown will consider giving a start to Fraser Fyvie who came off the bench against Saints after recovering from after a cruciate ligament injury.

Jim Goodwin is “very doubtful”, according to manager Danny Lennon.

Goodwin limped off with a calf strain 40 minutes into the Paisley side’s 1-0 defeat by Inverness on Saturday.

Hugh Murray (knee) is out for the season but Jure Travner is available following suspension.

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has doubts over Rob Milsom and David McNamee.

Both players picked up knocks in the 1-1 draw at New St Mirren Park on Saturday.

Brown, though, will give both players every chance of declaring themselves fit.

St Mirren boss Danny Lennon has no fresh fitness concerns ahead of the trip.

The Buddies travel to Pittodrie with the same squad which was held to a 1-1 draw with the Dons last Saturday.

David Barron and Garry Brady are still short of fitness following lay-offs.

Rob Milsom is in line for his Aberdeen debut, but fellow new loan signing Nick Blackman may have to wait to make his Dons bow.

Milsom joined from Fulham on Thursday and could take the place of the suspended Paul Hartley in midfield, but Blackman, who played under Aberdeen boss Craig Brown at Motherwell and agreed a switch to Pittodrie from Blackburn, is suffering with a virus.

Nikola Vujadinovic requires international clearance to play after extending his loan from Udinese until the end of the season, while Yoann Folly (broken ankle), Darren Mackie and Fraser Fyvie (both knee) remain out.

St Mirren could have a shortage of strikers for the clash.

Gareth Wardlaw is out for four to six weeks with ankle ligament damage while Michael Higdon is a major doubt with a knee problem.

Marc McAusland is also expected to miss out with a foot knock while Patrick Cregg is suspended.
