Arsenal have been beaten by AC Milan to the signature of talented Hammarby striker Emil Roback, according to reports.
Back in June, his club Hammarby confirmed that the 17-year-old had been in close contact with the Gunners and had even visited London Colney.
Bayern Munich were also keen on Roback, who looks to be heading to Italy for around €1.2m plus add-ons.
Director Jesper Jansson told Fotboll Direkt: “They contacted us and we know about their interest. He has also met Arsenal. There is a strong interest and there are more clubs (after him) as well. He has also been to visit Arsenal.
“Yes, I understand the interest. He is a forward with great physique and speed and already a skilled goalscorer.”
According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio and SportExpressen reporter Daniel Kristoffersson the Rossoneri are set to land the Swedish striker from under the noses of Arsenal.
Tuttosport via SempreMilan also suggest the deal is happening and their Wednesday headline on the story reads: “Roback caught: he bewitched Ibra at Hammarby.”
The Italian paper claim Roback will have trained with Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the lockdown, because the Swede owns 25% of Hammarby.
Zlatan was apparently impressed with the youngster, whom has been tracked by Milan for almost a year.
Roback was in Milan ready to undergo a medical on Wednesday morning and the deal is expected to be announced shortly.
Lyon star on the move
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Man City have been put on alert after Lyon’s sporting director conceded the risk of losing one of their star players is very real.
City have already snapped up Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres, though the latter wasted no time in upsetting Pep Guardiola.
Arsenal, meanwhile, look set for a major squad overhaul, including the departure of a senior striker.
One player who both clubs have converged over regarding their reported interest is Lyon midfielder Houssem Aoaur.
