Serie A giants identify Crystal Palace star as man to lead them to title

Wilfried Zaha TEAMtalk

AC Milan have joined the race for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha, according to a report.

Zaha has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park over the last couple of years. For example, last summer he was close to joining Everton.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been mentioned as potential suitors in recent months. However, Palace have managed to keep hold of Zaha for now – and they will be glad they did.

The Ivory Coast forward has been one of the bright spots of their season so far. Currently eight points above the relegation zone, having played a game more than the bottom three, they have been struggling for goals recently – except for Zaha.

The 28-year-old is leading the way for them from a centre-forward position this season. So far, he has eight goals and two assists from 14 appearances.

Without his contribution, Palace may be a lot further down the table. And now, they might be worrying about losing him again.

According to The Sun, Serie A leaders Milan have identified Zaha as someone who could strengthen their title pursuit in January.

Milan are currently one point above city rivals Inter in the Italian top flight, with both clubs looking to end Juventus’ dominant run of nine successive league titles.

Zaha to compete with Zlatan?

Milan have been reinvigorated since the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic one year ago, but they know they need competition for the Swedish striker.

Therefore, they are weighing up a potential bid for Zaha, who fits the profile they are looking for. He is in his prime and in good form, meaning he could make an instant impact.

The attacker is described by The Sun as “the missing piece of the puzzle” for Milan.

However, their interest is still in its early stages, so if they are to make a bid, it would likely come later in the January transfer window.

Should an offer arrive, it will have to be a big one to convince Palace to sell. They still have Zaha under contract until 2023.
