Agent claims Allardyce has made old Everton signing top West Brom target

The agent of Cenk Tosun has suggested the Everton striker is Sam Allardyce’s top target to sign for West Brom this month.

Allardyce is looking for reinforcements who could help him in his battle to guide West Brom out of the drop zone.

The Baggies are in a relegation battle in their first season back in the Premier League, and Allardyce has inherited a squad that needs bolstering if they are to stay up.

He is keen to bring in a new attacker and it appears he could turn to a familiar face.

According to agent Mesrun Izzet, Allardyce wants a reunion with Tosun, who has struggled for gametime at Everton.

Allardyce was in charge at Goodison Park when the Toffees signed Tosun from Besiktas in January 2018. Things have not gone to plan for the striker since then but his former boss retains faith in him.

With that in mind, he could try to lure him away from Merseyside. Everton do not have a large role for Tosun, so could be looking to get his wages off the books.

It is not yet clear whether West Brom will make an offer Everton deem acceptable. But Izzet claims a move is very much under consideration at the Hawthorns.

“I met with Sam Allardyce, the manager of West Brom, four days ago,” he told Fanatik. “His first choice is Cenk Tosun, since he is his former player.

“Moreover, (Tosun) would not have any adaptation problems to England because he has been there for a long time.”

Tosun has scored a total of 12 goals in 63 games in four years in England, which has included a short loan spell at Crystal Palace.

All five of his appearances in the Premier League for Everton this season have been as a substitute. He scored once in the FA Cup but is yet to find the net in the league this term.

Allardyce recently gave an insight into his approach for the January market, suggesting he had plenty of targets.

As well as Tosun, there have been links with other strikers such as Mbaye Diagne.

Of his plans for the rest of the month, Allardyce said recently: “I’m very adept in this window.

“It’s very difficult, but I’m used to doing business in it. So we’ll do between 100-150 – maybe even 250 enquiries during January to get the men we need. That was the same at all the other clubs I’ve been at.

“Hopefully, by the end of that we’ll get three or four good players who can go straight into the first team – or certainly not take very long before they do because we need that boost.”
