Agent moves to clarify Christian Eriksen’s injury concern

The agent of Christian Eriksen has denied the Tottenham No.10 has a “chronic” stomach injury.

The 26-year-old has not played for Spurs since the 2-1 victory at Brighton on September 22 due to an abdominal issue – an issue Denmark national team coach Age Hareide has described as a “chronic” stomach injury.

Eriksen has been left out of the Denmark squad for Saturday’s Uefa Nations League tie against the Republic of Ireland and next week’s friendly against Austria.

“Such an injury can be chronic, and it is true that Tottenham also fears that,” said Hareide, according to Denmark’s Canal 9.

But Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots told the Evening Standard that Hareide’s comments had been mistranslated: “Some international media have translated Hareide’s words badly.

“Christian has no chronic injuries – nobody has said that. He just has an injury related to some fatigue and, for that reason, he is having some rest. That is normal because otherwise it would not heal.

“Somebody has not translated well. Christian is doing everything to be back as soon as possible.”

Eriksen, 26, made 47 appearances for Spurs last year and missed just one Premier League game – the draw with Southampton in January due because of ‘flu.

The Standard claim Eriksen has been doing light training on his own at his Enfield training base, but the club are “relaxed about his fitness”.
