The agent of Barcelona misfit Philippe Coutinho has revealed that he is not concerned by the club’s pursuit of Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid star Griezmann has confirmed that he is set to leave the club this summer after five years of service, with Barcelona heavily linked with a move for the French forward.
Some reports had even suggested that Coutinho could be included as part of a swap deal, moving the other way to the Madrid club. However, the former Liverpool man’s agent is confident that his client will stay at Barcelona even if Griezmann does arrive.
Andrea Bertolucci told AS: “It’s untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona.
“I don’t know why they are saying that. I don’t know about that and that’s why I don’t want to talk anymore, but it’s false.”
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, though, Barcelona have told interested suitors that the Brazilian is available, but it will take a nine-figure sum to prize him away.
Two obstacles stand in the path of a possible departure for Coutinho: the first being his €120million asking price, with the Catalan giants wanting to recoup as much of their initial outlay as possible.
The second hurdle to be overcome is the player’s salary, which is close to €14million per season, a demand that Coutinho is not willing to lower.
Coutinho has also been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Liverpool legend Phil Thompson suggesting Jurgen Klopp should try and lure him back to Anfield. Manchester United are also interested.
