Agent of Lyon star gives Liverpool huge hope over £53m deal

The agent of Lyon star Nabil Fekir has given fresh hope to Liverpool that they could still sign the midfielder this summer.

The France star had looked set to become the £53million replacement for Philippe Coutinho at Anfield until his club Lyon released a statement last week saying that talks with the Merseysiders had ended.

It has since emerged that Liverpool’s medical staff had expressed grave reservations over the player’s knee injury, which required major surgery three years ago and a minor operation again last March.

However, Liverpool Echo stated on Monday that Klopp is aware he must add more depth to his attacking options in order to challenge for the title next season, and is considering a fresh move for Fekir.

Now, his agent has added fuel to the speculation by suggesting that his client’s future could still be at Anfield.

Asked on French TV channel LCI on Monday night why Fekir didn’t join Liverpool, he said: “He didn’t sign because um… it is not over! This is not the end of the story.”
