Alaves president raves over prospect of Man Utd man flourishing in Spain

Facundo Pellistri

Alaves president Alfonso Fernandez de Troconiz says that he has “full confidence” about Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri having an impressive impact.

Winger Pellistri has signed for the LaLiga club until the end of the season.

Indeed, after appearing in six Premier League 2 outings, United thought it best to progress his development elsewhere.

Uruguayan forward Pellistri has yet to play for his new club since signing. What’s more, his role in proceedings as the campaign continues remains unclear.

According to Troconiz, however, the 19-year-old will prove a vital asset to his team.

“We have full confidence in him and this is why we really fought to get him in on loan,” the club’s president Daily Mail.

“We really think he can contribute a lot to us. We are fully aware he is a young player and he is beginning his European career and he will need to improve.

“But we think we are an ideal team for him to improve with because Alaves is a small club and I think this could favour his improvement.

“We are convinced that he is going to help us have a magnificent second part of the season.”

Pellistri is likely to make his debut in Friday’s home clash with Real Valladolid. With the two sides separated by only a point at the bottom end of the table, the winger could therefore have an immediate impact.

Nevertheless, Alaves remain in LaLiga’s relegation spots and face a battle to remain in the Spanish top flight.

Ferdinand names Man Utd undroppable

United, meanwhile, are flying high again after their 9-0 thrashing of Southampton on Tuesday evening.

The victory ensured they are keeping track with Liverpool’s return to form toward the top of the Premier League.

Speaking after the game, Rio Ferdinand insisted that his former side now have a new undroppable player.
