Trent Alexander-Arnold has highlighted his plans for the future, including Liverpool and England captaincy, after European triumph.

The academy graduate broke into the Liverpool first team in 2016, making his debut in a League Cup win against Tottenham. He has now picked up a Champions League winners medal with a 2-0 win over the same opposition on Saturday.

Alexander-Arnold already has 85 appearances for the club in all competitions at the age of just 20. The full back also has 4 goals, including some fantastic free kicks.

He notched 12 assists in the Premier League last season breaking the record for the most assists in a season by a defender. He managed to beat colleague Andy Robertson to this award as the two of them enjoyed a personal competition.

The youngster was also called up for the 2018 World Cup Squad by Gareth Southgate after an impressive season for the Reds, he featured only once in the tournament in the 1-0 Group Stage defeat to Belgium. Trent has since gone onto make 4 more appearances for the Three Lions, scoring his first goal in a 3-0 win over the USA.

Now, the full back, who was born just a stones throw away from the clubs Melwood training base, has voiced his plans for the future.

He told Sky Sports of his future plans: “I am fortunate to have the people around me who understand the balance between letting me get comfortable, praising me too much and feeding that hunger that needs to be there in terms of wanting to strive to be better, wanting to be one of the best players in the world, the best right back in the world, being the first name on the team-sheet, wanting to be Liverpool captain, wanting to be England captain.

“That’s the main thing for me. It’s not selfishness to think this is what I have done it is about what the team has done and is doing. It is we and not I. We have achieved things as a team.

“To be recognised as one of the best in the world you have to have silverware behind you. That’s important to us as a team to be recognised as one of the best.”

Liverpool were helped to the Champions League final by a superb corner in the semi final by the 20 year old which caught the Barcelona defence by surprise as the Reds completed a miraculous comeback.

“It is the elite competition in Europe and the best compete in it,” Alexander-Arnold added.

“It shows the quality in the team to final twice in a row.

“Istanbul feels like yesterday and we want to create the same kind of memories for the next generation that are coming through.”
