Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is using his winter break to train in his native Brazil in a bid to keep himself on course for glory at the end of the season, according to reports.

Having missed eight of the campaign’s 25 Premier League games through a mixture of injury and suspension, Alisson has managed to register nine assists in the top flight, level at the top with Burnley’s Nick Pope and Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson.

The 27-year-old has become an unmissable part of Jurgen Klopp’s side but according to¬†Globo Esporte, Alisson is determined to remain in his best form rather than lose his rhythm during the Premier League’s winter break.

The source says that Alisson has travelled to Fluminese to train with his brother Muriel, who plays for the Brazilian side, in a bid to keep in shape.

Liverpool broke off from their Premier League duties last Saturday following the 4-0 win over Southampton at Anfield, with the Reds not set to play in the top flight until February 15 against Norwich at Carrow Road.

However, Liverpool have had a game since the win over the Saints, with the club’s youngest-ever side winning 1-0 against Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Alisson and his senior Liverpool teammates – as well as boss Jurgen Klopp – were not present for the match, but veteran James Milner was, the midfielder receiving special praise from Under-23s manager Neil Critchley for his words of wisdom to the club’s young players.

An own goal from Shrewsbury centre-back Ro-Shaun Williams was enough for the Reds to progress, with a clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the reward in the next round.

Speaking after the match, Critchley was also delighted with the performance his team put in to beat their League One opponents.

In other Liverpool news, back-up goalkeeper Adrian is reportedly wanted by La Liga side Real Betis at the end of the season.

Adrian arrived on Merseyside in the summer on a two-year deal following the departure of Simon Mignolet and has filled in for Alisson’s absence this season.

Adrian came through the ranks at Real Betis, playing for the club in the 2012/13 season and the Spanish side reportedly want him back.
