Almiron agent confirms release clause and contact with LaLiga giants

Miguel Almiron TEAMtalk

Miguel Almiron’s agent says the Newcastle United attacker has a release clause in his contract and is “on the radar” of Atletico Madrid.

The former Atlanta United star, who became United’s £21m record signing in January 2019, has been linked with a move to LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid.

Spanish outlet Fichajes.net claim Almiron is attracting the attention of Atletico boss Diego Simeone.

The 26-year-old Paraguayan scored his seventh goal of the season in the victory at Bournemouth on Wednesday night and he also has two assists.

The MLS website described the substitute’s strike as “a superb solo goal” and Almiron has become a fans’ favourite in on Tyneside.

He is under contract until 2024, but his agent Daniel Campos says the attacker does have a release clause in his deal.

Campos told beINSPORTS USA: “We are in contact with the people of Atletico Madrid, with the director but nothing official. Even before his departure from Newcastle, he was already under the radar at the club.

“The quickness of social media allows for a long of things that aren’t true. It does not shock me that Miguel is in the interest of various big teams.

“The truth is everything is a field of assumptions. We have to see if Newcastle United wants to negotiate a departure. Miguel’s release clause is high.

“Miguel is a player that fits perfectly in Diego Simeone’s system.”
