Carlo Ancelotti issues huge update on Real Madrid star as Arsenal, Tottenham, Man Utd ramp up interest

Real Madrid forwards Marco Asensio and Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that attacker Marco Asensio could leave the club, amid links to Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.

The 27-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and so far, there has been no indication that he will extend his stay with the Spanish giants.

It would represent a massive bargain for one of the Premier League trio to seal a deal for Asensio, so this will come as a major boost to them.

Madrid currently have a seven-point gap to close with LaLiga leaders Barcelona, but the Spaniard has remained a key player under Ancelotti.

This season, Asensio has made 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and making five assists, but there is still speculation surrounding his future.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ancelotti said: “He looks good to me, so I don’t know if he stays or not.

“Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. I don’t care much. We have some important challenges this season. The most important thing is that he contributes like last year.

“Let him continue as he is doing now. Then the club makes the most appropriate decision in the end.”

Premier League trio set to battle for Asensio bargain

As reported by TEAMtalk on Sunday, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are believed to be interested in making a summer swoop for Asensio, along with several other European clubs.

As mentioned, with his deal at the Bernabeu set to expire at the end of the season, he will be available on a free transfer this summer if nothing changes.

This is despite the 27-year-old having an unbelievably successful career with Real Madrid. Since joining the club back in 2014, Asensio has made 265 appearances overall, scoring 55 goals and making 29 assists in the process.

The Spaniard has also picked up plenty of accolades during his stint at the club, lifting three Champions Leagues, three LaLiga titles, three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups so far.

Asensio’s record of success is priceless

With that in mind, he could help bring a winning mentality to Arsenal, Spurs or Man Utd, if they can get a stunning deal over the line.

All three sides are desperate to start winning more trophies, for different reasons. Arsenal have not won a major trophy since 2020, but are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

If Mikel Arteta wants to cement the Gunner’s spot among Europe’s elite, bringing in quality reinforcements this summer will be key.

Man Utd, on the other hand, lifted their first trophy since 2017 on Sunday by beating Newcastle 2-0 at Wembley.

Ten Hag will want to ensure this isn’t a one-off occurrence, though, so he may look to add Asensio along with some other exciting players to his squad ahead of next season.

Finally, Tottenham have won just one major trophy since 1984, despite consistently finishing close to the top of the Premier League in recent campaigns.

Antonio Conte has also previously said that his current crop of players aren’t good enough to challenge for the title, so signing Asensio would be a step in the right direction.

Indeed, It remains to be seen where the Spaniard will end up next season, but it seems increasingly likely that he will be leaving the Bernabeu this summer.
