Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly ready to take on old club AC Milan in a battle for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, once he is confirmed as Everton boss.
A report on SempreMilan, via their mercato expert, suggested that Milan’s hopes of re-signing Ibrahimovic had grown to the extent that Zvonomir Boban hoped to unveil the striker on Sunday before the game against Sassuolo. However, everything has gone quiet since then.
ArenaNapoli, meanwhile, claimed earlier in the month that Everton officials – who are believed to be close to hiring Ancelotti – have put together a lucrative package to try and lure the 38-year-old back to England.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, the Swede could reunite with Ancelotti after the pair worked together at PSG.
Ancelotti revealed that he held discussions with Ibrahimovic while he was Napoli boss, and Schira believes he wanted to take him to Naples, but now it could be a return to the Premier League that is on the cards
Ibrahimovic has scored an incredible 456 goals and notched 174 assists in 741 competitive games across spells at Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, PSG, Manchester United and LA Galaxy.
Meanwhile, ex-Leeds full-back Danny Mills has dubbed Everton striker Cenk Tosun a ‘perfect fit’ for replacing Eddie Nketiah at Elland Road should the Arsenal man return to the Emirates.
Nketiah is rumoured to be recalled by his parent club Arsenal due to a lack of game time in the Championship this season.
The striker is yet to start a league game for the Whites but has scored three goals when coming off of the bench.
And Mills believes Tosun would be a great replacement if the finances at the club are sufficient to sign the Turkish international. Read more…
