Man City defender rejoins RB Leipzig on loan with plan for permanent exit

Manchester City have confirmed that Angelino will spend another season on loan with RB Leipzig.

Angelino returned to City from PSV at the start of last season. However, he could not find regular gametime, so left for Leipzig on loan in January.

The left-back helped the German club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. Now, he has a chance to add to the 18 appearances and he made for Leipzig last season.

Angelino has now returned to Leipzig on a season-long loan. They have the option to buy him permanently at the end of the season, with a four-year contract already in place.

The 23-year-old provided five assists and one goal in his previous spell at Leipzig. They finished third in the Bundesliga last season and will compete in the Champions League again this year.

City used Angelino just 12 times after bringing him back from PSV last summer. He had been on their books since joining their academy in 2013, but had to wait until 2016 for his debut.

In total, Angelino made 15 appearances for City before heading for Germany last season – where he will now continue his journey.

And this time, he could be gone for good. Some outlets suggest Leipzig’s option to buy could turn into an obligation depending on certain clauses.

The fee could be in the region of €18m. It would be a significant increase on the £5.3m they paid to re-sign him.
