Tottenham try mega offer to get their man after Antonio Conte leaves Inter Milan

Antonio-Conte leaves Inter Milan TEAMtalk

Antonio Conte has left his role as Inter Milan boss and a plethora of Italian sources believe he is bound for Tottenham.

The former Juventus, Chelsea and Italy boss ended Inter’s 10-year trophy drought by clinching the Scudetto ahead of AC Milan. However, his exit comes amid reported disagreement with the club’s ownership over finances. And the need to sever costs and sell players this summer.

A club statement read: “FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement for the consensual termination of the contract with the coach Antonio Conte.

“The whole club would like to thank Antonio for the extraordinary work he has done, which culminated in winning the nineteenth Scudetto. Antonio Conte will remain forever in the history of our club.”

The former Chelsea manager may not be out of work for long, as he has already held positive talks with Spurs, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Conte’s name resurfaced despite the fact he has reportedly already turned down the opportunity in north London. Earlier this month, it was said that four Italian coaches had rejected the idea of working at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Conte was on that list but it now seems as though the link is not dead in the water. On Wednesday, Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) also suggested Spurs are keen on the former Chelsea boss.

It is not known whether he fancies another tilt at the Premier League but he would be a popular choice. Not in west London though, where he spent two years with Chelsea.

€20m offer from Tottenham

A third Italian source La Stampa, also suggest Conte is the man for Daniel Levy. Levy’s ‘pharaonic offer’ has apparently turned Conte’s head. The former Italy boss was said to be earning €13m at Inter. Spurs’ offer is reportedly between €15m and €20m per year.

Conte joined Inter in 2019 and guided the club to the Europa League final in his first season. They were beaten by Sevilla.

This year Inter finished 12 points clear of AC Milan to end Juventus’ nine-year reign as Serie A champions.

Conte won the Premier League title and FA Cup with Chelsea. As well as three Serie A crowns with Juventus and he is likely to be in high demand across Europe.
