Arsenal accept transfer error with midfielder U-turn as Chelsea, Liverpool learn two new rivals
Arsenal would be willing to offer Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah a route back to the club, according to a report – but four other Premier League teams are interested in him.
Musah spent seven years in Arsenal’s academy before leaving for Valencia in 2019. He has since flourished into a key first-team player for the Spanish side, as well as becoming a common sight in the USMNT.
However, Valencia are at serious risk of relegation from La Liga this season. With that in mind, Musah is believed to be considering his future.
Despite being under contract until 2026, Musah might leave Valencia this summer. In that case, a return to English football has been speculated.
According to the latest from 90min, Arsenal are ‘keeping a close eye on’ their former midfield prospect. They have been putting in research about his progress since he slipped from their grasp.
However, as has already been made clear, Chelsea could provide competition for Musah’s signature. Furthermore, Liverpool have been on the list of his admirers.
The report from 90min also reveals that European qualification hopefuls Newcastle and Brighton are both in the race for Musah as well.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are said to already be in contact with Musah’s representatives.

However, the Premier League might not be the next division he plays in. Musah might remain in La Liga if another of his suitors sign him in the shape of Atletico Madrid.
Alternatively, he could head to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt or Wolfsburg.
Clearly, the 20-year-old should be able to keep his options open. Even the fact that he has a €100million (£88m) release clause shouldn’t affect his chances of a move too much.
Indeed, Valencia will have to listen to lower offers, as long as they are reasonable. What the actual asking price might be remains to be seen.
Arsenal might have role for Yunus Musah
It will be interesting to see what the next step is for Musah. Returning to Arsenal would certainly be interesting.
There will be a need for fresh energy in Arsenal’s midfield soon. Granit Xhaka, Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny are already in their thirties and Thomas Partey will be as well by the start of next season.
As reliable as Xhaka and Partey have been as a starting partnership for Arsenal this season, it would be useful for the club to bring in someone to develop in order to take over from them in the long term.
So far during the current campaign, Musah has made 30 appearances in all competitions. He is yet to score, but did provide a double assist in one of his 26 La Liga outings.
Most of his appearances have come as a central midfielder. But he is also capable of sitting in a deeper role or even playing out wide.
That kind of versatility could be useful to a developing Arsenal squad. Although, it is clear by now that they will not have a clear run at re-signing Musah.
