Arsenal ahead of Chelsea, Newcastle in hunt for Vagnoman

Arsenal are favourites to land Hamburg defender Josha Vagnoman, according to a report.

ESPN claim the Gunners, Chelsea and Everton are keen on the 17-year-old full-back, who was the second youngest player in history to play in the Bundesliga, when he made his debut in March in the 6-0 defeat against Bayern Munich.

Vagnoman has played for Germany’s Under-17s and Under-18s and he was a key member of the Germany U17 side at the World Cup last year.

He can play in either full-back position and is under contract until 2019, but the club have offered him a new deal, which he has yet to sign.

The report claims Arsenal “believe they are well positioned” to sign Vagnoman with the Gunners’ German head of recruitment Sven Mislintat a big fan of Vanoman.

The Sun reported in February that Arsenal were tracking Josha Vagnoman  and claimed Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich had also shown an interest in the player.

The Hamburger Abendblatt last week  reported that Newcastle United had an offer turned down by Hamburg, and that the player was set to sign a three-year contract despite relegation from the Bundesliga.

“The key is that I feel comfortable with Hamburger SV. I feel good here and everything fits,” Vanoman told the German paper in February, before of course they were relegated.
