Arsenal are reportedly ready to go head-to-head with Inter Milan in the race to sign Paraguay midfielder Miguel Almiron.

The attacking midfielder is currently playing for Atlanta United in the MLS, after joining from Argentinean outfit Lanus for £10million at the turn of the year, but is said to have been on Inter’s radar for some time.

The 23-year-old, who has won 12 caps for Paraguay, is said to be worth £18million after impressing under former Barcelona boss Tata Martino in America.

Almiron was named top of the list of the best players aged 24 or under in the MLS in 2016 and is expected to move to Europe over the next 12 months.

Wenger is said to be looking at fresh midfield talent as he expects to lose Mesut Ozil on a free transfer next summer, while Jack Wilshere continues to prove injury prone and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was sold to Liverpool.
