Arsenal boss Wenger interested in speedy Real Madrid attacker

Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid frontman Lucas Vazquez, according to a report in Spain.

Don Balon claim the 26-year-old Vazquez is a target for Arsene Wenger as he contemplates life without Alexis Sanchez.

The Spaniard has only made five La Liga starts this term, scoring once and grabbing one assist and Wenger is hopeful the lure of more game time will convince the player to move to the Premier League.

The report claims the attacker, who can play on the right wing, is considering his future at the Bernabeu. Vazquez is under contract until June 2021 and Wenger sees him as a replacement for Sanchez, who is out of contract in the summer.

The Gunners boss today denied Sky Italia reports from Thursday suggesting the club had identified Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the man to replace Sanchez.

But at Friday’s news conference the Frenchman rejected the idea and said signing the Gabon forward was “not a possibility” for Arsenal.

Still, if Sanchez does leave Arsenal this month Wenger will need to find a replacement and he has more than likely draw up a list of targets. And Wenger is reportedly “willing to do anything” to sign Vazquez, whose speed and agility has impressed the Gunners boss.
