Real Madrid want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal and are preparing an €85m bid to the Gunners for the Gabon striker.
The La Liga giants are preparing for a summer of massive change, with several big name departures expected. Real’s frontline is expected to be affected more than other departments, with Gareth Bale increasingly being frozen out of Zinedine Zidane’s plans.
According to Diario Gol, Arsenal forward Aubameyang is one of the options to come into Madrid’s attack, having just won the Premier League Golden Boot prize (shared with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah).
The former Borussia Dortmund man is seen as a versatile addition to Real’s attack, as he could also replace Karim Benzema as first choice striker. Benzema may have scored 21 La Liga goals this term, but at 31 years old, is set to be demoted to a more bit-part role.
The Gunners could be tempted to cash in on Aubameyang, with Unai Emery needing to generate cash for team strengthening and being happy to pin his striker options on Alexandre Lacazette – who was recently voted as Arsenal’s player of the season.
However, Lacazette too has been linked with a move away, recently admitting he is “flattered” by interest from Barcelona.
