Arsenal closing in on deal for impressive German wonderkid

Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for highly-rated German wonderkid Markus Schubert.

The Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper is rated as one of the top young prospects in Europe, and is set to join the Gunners on a free transfer – according to a report in the Independent.

The 21-year-old is being lined up as a long-term understudy to Bernd Leno, and is already being considered for a loan move to the Championship or back to Germany.

Schubert was reportedly identified by Arsenal’s former head of recruitment Sven Mislintat, who left earlier this season after just a year at The Emirates.
