Arsenal contact representatives of two Premier League free agents

Mikel-Arteta-Arsenal TEAMtalk

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with the agents of Ryan Fraser and Willian to find out their contract demands with a view to making offers.

Mikel Arteta has made no secret of the fact he hopes to bring in some fresh faces in the upcoming transfer window.

However, he has also expressed concerns over whether he will be given the finances to sign the players he wants.

The financial impact of the coronavirus means the North London club may not have the funds to do so. A failure to finish in the top four since 2016 has also led to reduced income.

Therefore, Arteta may have to turn his attentions to some cheaper alternatives, including free transfers.

And Fraser and Willian seem to have been identified as potential recruits, according to a report on Bleacher Report, cited on the Daily Express.

It says the Gunners have spoken to the representatives of the duo to discover what terms they are looking for.

Willian has been in fine form for Chelsea since the restart, but is out of contract at the end of the season.

It is thought he is in discussions with the Blues over a new deal, but nothing has been finalised as of yet. That leaves the Gunners with an opportunity to make the Brazilian an offer.

Fraser, meanwhile, is without a club having left Bournemouth when his contract expired at the end of June.

The Scotsman had attracted the attention of a number of clubs with his displays for the Cherries in recent years. He scored 16 goals and set up a further 29 while playing in the top flight for Eddie Howe’s side.

Now available on a free, Fraser is likely to sign with another Premier League outfit in the coming weeks.

Both players would provide competition to Arsenal’s attacking players. With the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil unclear, they would also provide experienced cover.

LACAZETTE DISCUSSES AUBAMEYANG CONTRACT SAGA

Striker Lacazette has been talking about the future of his teammate Aubameyang. The Gabon international is still to sign a new deal, despite months of negotiations.

He continues to be linked with PSG and Barcelona, and may depart Arsenal at the end of the current campaign.

But Lacazette says he has stopped asking Aubameyang for updates on his situation, but is hoping to find out before the wider world does.
