Arsenal have been handed a transfer blow as LaLiga giants Barcelona have joined the race for one of their midfield targets, a report claims.
Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his midfield options despite the arrival of Lucas Torreira and reports in Spain claim Steven N’Zonzi is top of the Spaniard’s wish list.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 29-year-old could still leave the club this summer, with the Gunners heavily linked.
However, Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of the France World Cup winner, as Barca have apparently identified him as an alternative to PSG’s Adrien Rabiot.
Roma are also reported to be among the other clubs interested in N’Zonzi, who is believed to have a €40million release clause.
However, Emery was coy when asked about a potential reunion with N’Zonzi earlier this month: “I know him but we haven’t made a move for him.”
