Arsenal fears raised as Newcastle enter race for exciting €13m target

Arsenal have been rocked as Newcastle have emerged as rivals for the signature of a midfield target.

The 24-year-old Paraguayan has been earning rave reviews for the MLS side and the attacking midfielder has managed 12 goals and 13 assists in 32 games for Atlanta.

Reports had claimed that the former Lanus No.10 has apparently got everything in place to finish the MLS season and complete a €13m move to the Gunners in January.

The midfielder’s agent – Daniel Campos – has insisted that his client will play in England one day, but didn’t shed any more light on links with specific clubs.

“There is interest in Almiron and Oscar Romero,” he told AM 1080 in Paraguay.

“I’m in the process of working on England, there are two or three clubs interested in Almiron.

“There’s nothing concrete but certainly Almiron will play in the Premier League.”

Campos also confirmed that he was president at the game between Newcastle and Bournemouth on Saturday amid reports that the Tynesiders are in the running.
