Arsenal free to secure loan star permanently as Real Madrid look to cash in

Martin Odegaard, Dani Ceballos TEAMtalk

Arsenal will have the chance to sign on loan midfielder Dani Ceballos on a permanent basis this summer with Real Madrid looking to sell.

Ceballos is on loan at the Gunners for a second straight year. Mikel Arteta opted to bring him back to the Emirates after his initial spell ended following the 2019/20 season.

He has played 24 games in the current campaign, providing one assist. Although, he hasn’t featured in any of Arsenal’s last six games.

However, the fact Arteta wanted to keep him points towards him being a fan of the 11-time Spanish international.

And should he want to keep him at the Emirates beyond the end of this term, it is likely he will have the chance to do so.

That is because his parent club Real Madrid will be happy to sell him in the next transfer window, according to La Razon (via Sport Witness).

The Spanish giants want to raise funds, and cashing in on Ceballos is one way they are planning to do it. He is not a part of their plans and, therefore, they are open to moving him on for a satisfactory fee.

The report states that an offer of around €25million would be enough for a deal to be reached. That would give them a €10million profit on the now 24-year-old, signed from Real Betis in 2017.

Former club to provide competition

Arsenal won’t have a free run at Ceballos though, with the report adding Real Betis are also eyeing up a move.

Ceballos played over 100 games for Betis before leaving three-and-a-half years ago, developing into a fine attack-minded midfielder.

And should they have to sell former Liverpool target Nabil Fekir, they may attempt to take him back to the Benito Villamarin Stadium.

The La Liga club know that they may have to sell Fekir if they don’t secure European football to balance the books. If that does eventuate, then they see Ceballos as ‘an attractive option’ to replace him.

As things stand, Betis are seventh in the table and are 12 points behind fourth placed Sevilla. Thus, Champions League qualification looks doubtful but they are still in with a strong chance of a place in the Europa League.
